Cases of lowering the radix

Lowering the radix addresses the starting point of the nasal bridge leading from the glabella. Rather than assuming the overall height of the nose was simply reduced, you can observe how the nasal tip and dorsum were shaped together. This collection includes cases where the radix was lowered while removing an L-shaped implant and reconstructing the nasal tip.

Records also include cases where the radix was adjusted alongside corrections for an upturned nose and nostril shape. One article explains that although the radix was lowered, the change may not be clearly visible immediately after surgery due to swelling. This is why it is essential to read the text alongside the timeframe when the photo was taken, without judging the later progress or final height solely from the immediate surgical lines.

Changes that occur when an implant is positioned high and deviated: methods for replacement and bulbous tip correction

A high, deviated silicone implant was replaced to lower the radix, and septal extension was performed using donor rib cartilage. Partial soft tissue resection, cartilage tie, and rhinitis surgery addressed the bulbous tip and nasal obstruction.

Why the nose looks long and the nostrils look pinched after multiple rhinoplasties

Lost lower lateral cartilage was reconstructed using autologous rib cartilage, and asymmetric, pinched nostrils were corrected. By lowering the radix, the appearance of a long nose was reduced, and surgery for rhinitis and nasal valve stenosis was performed concurrently.

Why the nose looks short and the columella retracts after revision rhinoplasty, and how to reconstruct the septum

To correct septal cartilage loss from 3 prior surgeries, a short nose appearance, and a bulbous tip, the septum was reconstructed using autologous rib cartilage and the radix was lowered.

Why nostrils become asymmetrical and the nose looks crooked, and how rib cartilage reconstruction is performed

Nostril asymmetry caused by a tilted columellar axis and loss of alar cartilage after Gore-Tex insertion was corrected through Gore-Tex removal, autologous rib cartilage alar reconstruction, and septoplasty.

Why a multiply operated nose deviates and develops a widened tip, and how cartilage is reconstructed

Following three prior procedures, a deviated nose caused by septal damage and a missing right lower lateral cartilage was restored through autologous rib cartilage structural reconstruction, silicone implant replacement, nasolabial angle correction, and rhinitis surgery.

Why a high radix makes the nose look artificial: septal reconstruction and radix correction methods

A deviated septum and an excessively high radix resulting from a previous surgery were precisely corrected using donor rib cartilage septal reconstruction, silicone implant replacement, osteotomy, and inferior turbinate reduction.

Why silicone implants deviate and make the nose look long: implant replacement and rib cartilage reconstruction

Silicone implant deviation, excessive nostril show, and a high radix were corrected by removing the previous implant, reconstructing the nasal tip with autologous rib cartilage, placing a customized implant, and adjusting the nasolabial angle.

Common questions before reading the cases

Are there cases where nasal tip surgery was performed while lowering the radix?

There are records where the L-shaped silicone implant was removed, the nasal tip was reconstructed with autologous rib cartilage, the nasal bridge was reshaped with another implant, and the radix was lowered. Other cases addressed the radix while correcting the nostrils and an upturned nose. Rather than focusing solely on the change at the radix, observe how the nasal tip and dorsum were each adjusted within the same surgery.

How should I interpret it if the change in the radix is not clearly visible in photos taken immediately after surgery?

In some original records, I explain directly that although the radix was lowered, the change is not yet clearly visible because of swelling. Because such photos only capture the appearance at that specific moment, it is best not to view them as the final line. It is helpful to check both the timing of the photograph and the surgeon's observations, and to compare them with subsequent progress photos when available.
